India - Kerala

Tired of hectic and backbreaking life, the only solution is the visit to Kerala. Despite having such natural beauty, hills thickly wooded with teak and rubber and abundance greenery this state are relatively little visited. Apart from that Kerala's traditions of dance forms, which originated from temple worship, can be witnessed at regularly held performances. With Trivandrum being the capital city has an exceptionally fine museum set in an amusement park. Apart from that Kovalam has one of the most popular beaches in India.

The main highlight of Kerala is Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Trivandrum, and Padmanabhapuram Palace are important monuments. Furthermore, Cochin has been Kerala's center of maritime trade for innumerable centuries. Just five hour drive from Cochin leads into thickly forested hills, past rubber and spice plantations, and into southern India's tea growing district headquartered at the charmingly old world Munnar.

But if you want to spend some leisure time along the sea then the best place is Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala. This beautiful seaside city is built on seven hills and got its name from the word, Thiru Ananthapuram meaning the city of Ananth or the abode of the sacred serpent Anantha. According to the mythology this was the place on which Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu trinity, reclines. After exploring this beautiful seaside city, the next halt is at Kovalam.
